Zeroes in Image File Names

Altering the Numbering Format of Image File Names

The most common image naming convention is

AAAANNNN.TYP

where A represents a letter, N a number and TYP is an image type; examples are:

MIST0010.JPG
DOGS0100.TGA

Not all applications use this convention however. Some applications (for instance, some of Softimage's utilities) insist on

DOS1.TGA

So, while some applications request filenames without leading zeroes in the suffix containing the frame number, many other applications, including Premiere, LightWave 3D, and 3D Studio Max, require filenames with the leading zeroes.

Texturemations can easily be used with both formats. While it ships using the 'leading zero" numbering format convention

DOGS0012.TGA

as its default, it can be converted to the "zero-less" convention

DOS12.TGA

using the zRenamer tool.
