Here is how to download the latest version of SoftWish.The demo version of SoftWish is a full functionality version. It requires a license in order to run. After you request a demo license we email you a time-limited license (it will expire after a while).  Here are the steps in more detail:

1  Download

Download the latest version of  SoftWish 2.2 for Softimage 3.8, 3.8SP1 and 3.8SP2 : 

• Read the release notes.
• SGI mips 3 (Irix 6.2 and 6.5) - Note that for Irix 6.*: if you have installed any rld rollup patches you will probably need the latest - rld rollup. If you are using Particle and need mips 2 email us.
• Intel Windows NT 4.0
• Alpha Windows NT 4.0
• tarred SoftWish documentation
• zipped SoftWish documentation

Download SoftWish 2.1 for Softimage 3.7sp1. This version is frozen.

• Read the release notes.
• SGI mips 2 (Irix 5.3, Irix 6.2) - Note that for Irix 6.*: if you have installed any rld rollup patches you will probably need the latest - rld rollup patch 3135.
• Intel Windows NT 4.0
• Alpha Windows NT 4.0

2  Installation

After the download, unpack the archive onto your local disk and run setup. For Windows NT run setup.bat. For Irix run the shell script setup.

On NT: due to a minor bug in the NT setup, you should not change the default location of TCL files when offered the opportunity to do so by setup. If you can not install into the default location for some reason, and chose a different directory you'll have to add the directory/bin to the PATH manually after the installation (using the Start-> Settings->Control Panel->System->Environment). 

The documentation gets downloaded but does not get put anywhere special by setup. It will be wherever you unpacked the compressed download file.

3  Licensing

Request a demo license. A demo license is a full finctionality license which expires after a certain period of time. Once we process your request we will email you a file  which you must place into the $SI_LOCATION/3D/custom/SoftWish/flexlm directory. This directory is created during the SoftWish install but is empty. For example if your softimage is D:/SOFT3D_3.7SP1 then you need to put the license file we email you into: D:/SOFT3D_3.7SP1/3D/custom/SoftWish/flexlm.
