Image File Script Editor The Image File Script Editor is a SoftWish plug-in that generates and edits image file scripts. To use the Script Editor select Matter-> Texture ->
imageFileScriptEditor; this brings up a text editor. Our nomenclature is derived
from the Matter->Texture->2DGlobal dialog box, which looks like
this: The imageFileScriptEditor "File" pull-down menu contains general file manipulation commands as well as two additional features: "Open From Object" and "Save To Object". If a selected texture, or a selected objects' texture has a script animation type, then the "Open From Object" command will open the script file associated with the texture. The "Save To Object" command sets the selected texture's or selected model's texture animation type to "script" and its Picture Filename to the name of file being edited. To generate an image file script, select "Make Script" from the "Tools" pull-down menu. The "Image File List Generator" window will appear letting you specify an image filename pattern and the other parameters.Image Filename Pattern The Image Filename Pattern consists of a filename pattern preceded by a directory path. The directory path defines where on the disk to look for files which match the specified pattern. The path must be absolute. The filename pattern is used to match file names within a directory, in regexp syntax. This means that d:/images/mice*9.pic, e:/textures/dogs*.tga, and f:/cats/cats01*. tiff are all OK, but ../dogs*.tga and ~/cats01*.tiff are not. Generated scripts always have the current scene's length ( if scene is a 100 frames length then the script file contains 100 lines). But with "Texture Starts Moving at Frame" and "Texture Stops Moving at Frame" sliders you can adjust the beginning and end of an animated texture. Note that if you use "Texture Starts Moving at Frame" to start your script at frame J then all the frames of the texture which precede frame J will be the same as frame J. Similarly if your stop your script at frame K then all the frames of the texture after frame K will be the same as frame K. Speed The Image File Script Editor can vary the speed of the moving image clip by omitting or duplicating image files. One can speed a sequence of images up by specifying 2.0, which omits every other image, or 1.5, which omits every third image. One leaves the speed of an image sequence unchanged by specifying 1.0. One slows a sequence down by specifying 0.5, which duplicates every image. Repetition Style If, after adjusting the speed, there are more frames in the animation than there are images, this parameter specifies what to do when we run out of frames. Loop means that Image File Script Editor should start over again from the beginning. In this case the clip of moving images appears to play from beginning to end and then start over again at the beginning. Repeat Last means that Image File Script Editor should just keep using the last image over again. In this case the clip of moving images appears to stop moving at the last image. Generated scripts are shown in the editor window.
"Insert Image" from the "Tools" menu allows one to modify an existing script by selecting a file and inserting its' name (preceded by the absolute path) at the "insert cursor" position. "View Image" displays the picture named by the current line image. |
