SoftWishConsole

SoftWishConsole is in all the modules. Select "Display|SoftWishConsole".

SoftWishConsole lets you modify the current Softimage scene either by entering Tcl/Tk commands or by sourcing Tcl/Tk scripts. The SWN library provides a means of operating upon scene elements by their names, using wildcards (the naming convention is very similar to that used for files). For example you can select, or perform any other operation on, all the elements whose names begin with A, or all the children of such elements, or all the children of such elements whose names end with 1, and so forth. The Console is a good choice for debugging Tcl code. If you are developing a plugin you can use the SoftWishConsole to verify that your code is doing the right things (at least as far as visible modification of a scene goes) and then switch to SoftWishDebugger to debug procedures in the order that Soft actually calls them.

By default SoftWishConsole overlays the top left hand Softimage window. It provides a button at the bottom of the intepreter window to Return to SoftImage.

Whenever you want to see what the effect of your SoftWish commands has been, push the enter button on your keyboard, Softs' display is refreshed every time a line is given to the interpreter. Whenever you need to perform some Softimage function, such as selecting something, push the Return to Softimage button. When you want to resume your SoftWish work select SoftWishConsole again.
